Spanish Pavilion for Shanghai Expo 2010 / Culture
Location: Shanghai, China Client: SEEI Date: 2007 Site Area: 11750 sq.m
The site has a privilege location: to the north, it will become part of the new fa?ade of the city to the Huangpu River, while the south elevation opens to an urban square. From its proximity to the Lupu Bridge and the elevated walkway, the building offers an aerial perspective that makes the design of the roof plan critical. The proposal tries to recover the pleasant, wide, optimistic and illuminated environments of the first pavilions in history. Functionally, our pavilion is like a large patio house, where an open plaza separates a column of stacked exhibition spaces from the leisure and office areas. The spatial organization is materialized using "walls of light", a three-dimensional construction system that integrates circulation, structure, lighting, and environmental control..
